Art Date New York: Oliver Marsden at Galerie Mourlot; Serafina Restaurant is a local favorite; Kaye Playhouse is showing Hunter College Dance Company’s Spring Concert

New York: Exhibit, Chef and Theatre Picks for this Week’s Art Dating and Matchmaking
Art and Living checks in with Christy Dusablon for her weekly dish on the best places to see art, dine and enjoy a night out on the town! If you have a gallery, museum, exhibit, chef, or performing arts event you want to see on Art Date, e-mail Christy at christy@artandliving.com.
Oliver Marsden’s work has been quoted as looking like”visually liquid sculptures.” The complexity of his work leaves both the eye and the mind in a state of confusion and wonder; he experiments with his art and allows viewers the opportunity to experiment with their senses. Though the visual objects of his work may seem simple, in actuality the visuals are a deeper experience for the viewer. This weekend, come to Galerie Mourlot and experience Oliver Marsden’s sculptures first hand.
Today lets keep it simple–but not light. Serafina is an Upper East Side crowd favorite. Simply put, it’s gourmet and it’s pizza. Locals advise visitors to sit upstairs (if the weather permits) and enjoy a pizza for two under the New York sun. Guys–not all ladies want to be wined and dined. Sure it’s nice once in awhile, but the majority of us girls appreciate casual food and pitchers of beer!
This Saturday, April 5th, Kaye Playhouse is showing the Hunter College Dance Company’s Spring Concert. New student choreography will be featured, along with works by Mark Morris, Blondell Cummings, and Susan Marshal. Enjoy an evening of great dance and great music at Kaye Playhouse.
