Los Angeles: Exhibit, Chef and Theatre Picks for this Week’s Art Dating and Matchmaking
Art and Living checks in with Christy Dusablon for her weekly dish on the best places to see art, dine and enjoy a night out on the town! If you have a gallery, museum, exhibit, chef, or performing arts event you would like to see on Art Date, email Christy at christy@artandliving.com.
The Social and Public Art Resource Center in Los Angeles is dedicated to art and helping the community. Typically, the Resource Center focuses on work concerning ethically and economically diverse populations. SPARC has three main purposes: to educate, to preserve and to produce. The work done at SPARC is a collaboration of community and art. Ultimately, the voices of our divided communities need to be heard. SPARC is working toward building a better world; promote the cause by visiting SPARC this weekend!
The French Market Café is located on Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice. It is the only Venice restaurant that offers online ordering for both pick-up and delivery. This is one of my all time favorite Southern California streets. It is ripe with culture and wine. On Saturday this café is only open until 4:30 p.m. so be sure to get in before it closes! The wine list is extensive both in region and in price. The outdoor seating recreates the European experience, putting diners at ease under the California sun. A warm bowl of butternut squash bisque will warm your stomach as you prepare for the festive holiday ahead. Come with family, come with friends, come with a lover — this café is perfect for any pair.
Brought to you by the author who wrote Peter Pan, a fanciful comedy titled Alice Sit-by-the-Fire is being shown this weekend at the Pacific Resident Theatre. The comedy is based upon the difficulties in raising children, and is sure to warm your heart going into the holiday week. The Pacific Resident Theater has dedicated its small stage to the classics, new writers, and rarely performed plays. During the last 22 years, the theater has won over 200 awards. It is not often you find a small stage that offers such a great show for such a small cost.
